Marldon Pantomime Group

**Our next production, Sleeping Beauty has been postponed until the end of March.  There will be performances on Wednesday 30th March, Thursday 31st March, Friday 1st April, Saturday 2nd April.  Performances will start at 7pm.  Tickets will be available in February from Marldon Cards and News. **

Marldon pantomime Group was formed in 1982 by Zanna Goddard and a small enthusiastic band including the vicar, David Prothero, and local man, Andrew Dangerfield, who was soon to become a vicar.

Zanna produced and directed the first three shows and handed over the magic wand to Viv Arscott who has produced every show since, that is, until this year, more of that later. Viv had a very steep learning curve but got much encouragement and help from the “new ” vicar, Grant Brockhouse plus a dedicated team of regulars, cast and backstagers, many of whom are still participating. This was made evident by the 2000 version of Snowdrop and the Dwarfs which had seven of the original cast – albeit slightly older!!

lunchSince then the group has been extremely lucky to have a wealth of talent to tap into, from actors to musicians and choreographers, costume designers and props makers, set builders and scenary painters, lighting and sound engineers: the list of people who have given their time and talents is enormous and greatly appreciated by all who come to see the finished product. The group hopes to continue for many years to come, and as long as that talent continues to emerge, it will. If you have a particular talent or a desperate desire to be involved, don’t be shy, come and join us.

The 2018 script is written by Andy Bailey, giving Viv a well earned rest after penning thousands of words over the years! Andy is also this year’s Director.  John is designing and building the scenery with his team of helpers.
